Career
Beginning her career in the Tamil film industry, Aishwarya debuted as a playback singer in the unreleased film Ramana, directed by Parthi Bhaskar. In November 2000, Devanesan Chokkalingam, a South Indian film composer and singer, composed the song. Her first career song was “Natpe Natpe” from the soundtrack of D. Imman’s Whistle (2003), in which Aishwarya sang the song with composer and actor Silambarasan.
Moving forward in her career, she announced her first directorial feature film 3 in August 2011, stating that she would feature her husband Dhanush and Shruti Haasan in the movie. The song “Why This Kolaveri Di” from the film’s soundtrack went viral on the Internet, and people eagerly awaited the film’s release. The song was composed by her cousin Anirudh Ravichander.
In 2015, Aishwarya announced that she would launch a YouTube channel under the banner “Ten Entertainment,” with the main objective of promoting original content and short films by aspiring filmmakers. Apart from this, Aishwarya has appeared as a judge in several shows. She was seen judging the third season of the popular dance competition Jodi Number One on Star Vijay, along with actors Sangeetha and Jeeva.
As a playback singer, she has also worked as an assistant director in films such as “Un Mela Asadhan” in the film Whistle, and Aayirathil Oruvan with Silambarasan. She was chosen as India’s Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Women in August 2016.
Aishwarya performed her Bharatanatyam performance at the United Nations Headquarters on International Women’s Day in March 2017. However, the performance was criticized on social media.
