YG Mahendran, born on 9 January 1950 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India as Yecha Gunja Mahendran, is a popular Indian actor, playwright, singer, comedian and film director.
Born into a family with a strong theatrical background, he was interested in drama and comedy since childhood and acted in school plays.
He completed his high school education from Don Bosco Egmore. He studied Chemical Engineering from A. C. College of Technology, Guindy.
He did his MBA from the University of Madras. He entered the film industry in 1970 with the film Navamagraham. Since then he has acted in many Tamil films and stage plays.
