Career
Anju Mahendru started her acting at the age of 13. After meeting poet and lyricist Kaifi Azmi, the path to Bollywood opened and Kaifi Azmi recommended him to Basu Bhattacharya, after which Anju was cast in the film ‘Uski Kahani’ in 1966 and she made her Bollywood debut. After this, Anju acted in many films like Jewel Thief (1967), Sunghursh (1968), Intekaam and Bandhan (1969), but she did not get success as a lead actress.
After this, she started doing character roles and in the mid-1980s, she was seen acting in the television films Nari Heera with rising Aditya Pancholi.
From the year 1990, she entered the serials and returned to television by acting in many serials. Anju made her television debut by starring in popular Hindi TV serials like Shingora (1986), Swabhiman (1995) and Kasauti Zindagi Ki (2003).
In the decade of 2000, she was known as Trishna’s mother-in-law in Zee TV’s serial ‘Hamari Betiyon Ka Vivaah’, Maan’s grandmother in ‘Geet- Hui Sabse Parai’ and Jeevika, Maanvi and Dabbu’s grandmother in ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’. Know from the role of.
